Committed to Providing You With Fast, Lasting Relief

In 1998 the physicians of the esteemed Lake Centre for Orthopaedics expanded their practice to become Florida Musculoskeletal Institute, a comprehensive orthopedic care center offering an unparalleled range of allied healthcare services to people suffering from bone, muscle and joint pain. FMI’s doctors and staff are trained in the most advanced and well-established treatments and technologies to create a pioneering, interdisciplinary approach to next-level orthopaedic care.

Feeling better for a little while is never enough.

At FMI, we shun fads designed to enrich practitioners instead of patients. Instead, our doctors specialize in the most technologically advanced surgeries, therapies, equipment and procedures that research, testing and real-world application have proven to provide safe, genuine relief. We have been a local forerunner in a variety of leading-edge treatments that other practices have endeavored to duplicate or have yet to be qualified to perform, including:

Anterior Approach Hip Replacement – This revolutionary procedure involves a specialized table that allows your surgeon to enter the hip joint from the front, requiring less intrusion into tissues and dramatically faster healing. Most patients are able to be up and walking the same day of their surgery. FMI was the first local practice with the training and qualification to perform this procedure.

Arthroscopy – Arthroscopic surgery is effective in the diagnosis and treatment of arthritis and injuries of the joints and tissues. It can be used to repair cartilage and ligament damage, perform biopsies and more, with less pain, trauma and risk and faster recovery times than traditional surgery.

Regenerative Medicine – Regenerative medical treatments utilize your body’s own ability to heal itself by boosting its power naturally. These include Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), which uses your blood to help heal and regenerate tendons, ligaments and other soft tissues, and Stem Cell Therapy, which delivers your own healing stem cells to injuries, arthritis and degenerative conditions.

Occupational Medicine Services
Because so many injuries occur on the job or due to vocational activities, FMI has established the Workers’ Health Center for Occupational Medicine to treat job-related diseases and injuries and help resolve workplace hazards. Our center provides medical exams, urgent care, injury evaluation and management, drug and alcohol screening and a host of other services. To learn more, please review our Occupational Medicine page.

You can rely on Florida Musculoskeletal Institute to continue to be at the leading edge of quality orthopaedic medicine in Lake, Sumter and Marion Counties, both now and through the future. At FMI, we don’t measure our success by the number of patients we treat, but by the number whose lives we improve.
